How We Make Our Candles

Making candles is as much a science experiment as it is an art. Each and every candle in our shop is tested, tested and tested again to ensure it will burn beautifully in your home, every time.

From the idea phase, we begin testing different wax and wicks with different fragrance oils until we get the recipe just right. This can take several months and requires a great deal of patience!

Pile of soy wax flakes.

Then it's time to start pouring. To begin, we melt our premium soy wax in one of our wax melting pots. While the wax is liquifying, we clean and prepare our signature clear and amber jars, attaching wicks as we go.

When it's at just the right temperature, we pour the wax from our wax melter into one of our steel pitchers to which we add the delicious smelling fragrance oils. Our pouring room is by now filled with whichever heavenly scent we’re working on that day!

Before the wax cools too much, we carefully pour the aromatic wax by hand into our prepared jars. We then secure our wicks in place to ensure they will burn evenly, then leave them to rest.

The candle will set pretty quickly but it needs to then "cure" for at least two weeks to ensure the fragrance oil binds evenly with the wax. This ensures optimal scent levels are achieved when you come to burn your candle at home.

Once our candles have cured, we clip the wicks, screw on the lids, pop on the labels and voila! - a Ribbon Gang Co. candle is born, ready to be boxed up and sent to your home.

We hope you enjoy burning it as much as we've enjoy making it for you! 🎀
